Yacham MicahMeet Yacham, who has won a Grace Foundation Scholarship to pursue his dream of studying medicine. He is a great example of what we are trying to achieve: providing dedicated students who are passionate about their learning and development with the opportunities and resources to turn their aspirations into reality. Here, he describes in his own words what the support of the Grace Foundation means to him:

“My name is Yacham Micah. I’m 23 years old and studying Medicine and Surgery at Kaduna State University. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to help people. I have discovered that the essence of my life is to give love and support to other people. In my life, I’ve learned that humility is valuable. I’m not perfect. I shouldn’t pretend to be. My greatest strength is that I’m not afraid to go out on a limb, to make mistakes, and to learn from them. All this has shaped me to be the person I am today, and will impact the kind of person I will be tomorrow.”

“The happiest time in my life was when I got admission to study medicine. Before then, I wrote Jamb twice but wasn’t admitted. The first time I wrote Jamb, my score was 196. The second time, I got 240. My third and final Jamb score was 270, which helped me secure an admission.”

“My favorite subjects are Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry and Community Medicine. My career goal is to become a Doctor. By majoring in medical field, I feel I will be able to utilize my care-taking skills. My short-term career goal consists of successfully graduating from University with MBBS. With this short-term goal I will also achieve my long-term goal of becoming a Doctor.”

“The Grace Foundation scholarship will make a significant positive impact to me in many ways. First of all, I will have the confidence of those that awarded this scholarship. I will also have more confidence in myself to reach my goals. Lastly, I will have the means to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. Knowing that someone believes in my abilities enough to select me over all the other candidates will help me do my best.  THANK YOU.”
