Mr. Zeal Akaraiwe holds a BSc in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos and has enjoyed a prestigious 14-year career working for Standard Chartered Banks in Zambia, London and Nigeria.

During his time as Head of Global Markets Sales, Mr. Akaraiwe was involved with numerous “firsts”, both in Standard Chartered Africa and in the Financial Markets space in Nigeria and a key member the SCB Nigeria WBMM (wholesale bank management committee) that drove SCBN’s strategic direction in Nigeria regarding market penetration, customer acquisition and product development. From 2012 – 2014 he sat on the Governing Council of the FMDA Nigeria (Financial Markets Dealers Association) and also headed the derivative committee.

After joining Standard Chartered Nigeria Treasury in 2004, Mr. Akaraiwe moved on to work on the Africa Structuring desk in Standard Chartered London in early 2006, where he focused on structuring of derivative transactions covering interest rate, commodity and foreign exchange for the bank’s footprint in Africa.

In 2007, he moved to act as the Head of the Sales team in Standard Chartered Zambia before returning to Nigeria in 2008 to first head Financial Institutions Sales and then the combined Financial Markets Sales team.

Since 2014, he has founded the consultancy firms Graeme Blaque Nigeria Ltd, providing procurement solutions for Oil and Gas companies and Graeme Blaque Advisory, providing risk management advisory using derivatives to clients in all industries ranging from banks to oil producers to commodity exporters.
